My wife & I found this great toy chest online, but we had a few significant design critiques: For starters, the base didn’t have as much storage capacity as we’d like, and the top bookshelf had room for improvement.
I decided to rif on that original idea, designing a CAD mockup in
Sketchup, complete with a few improvements.
The “bucket” base was enlarged, making it easy to throw toys in. The bookshelf top is grooved to securely support a few rows of books. The legs are solid maple, shaped with a router + template and the body is 1/2” plywood.
